FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you pay more than my local pawn and jewelry shops?

CashForGoldCanada.com is a web operated business which means we have an extremely low overhead compared to a traditional brick and mortar business. Also, because of our large purchasing volume we are able to pass these volume discounts on to our valued clients, which means a better price for your gold.

Is the GoldExpress Kit package free?

Yes. The GoldExpress Kit is absolutely free upon your request. There is no obligation once you have received your kit but if you do decide not to use it, we would greatly appreciate you passing it on to someone else or sending the kit back to us by writing “Return To Sender” on the envelope and dropping it in any mailbox. This helps us to reduce expenses and keep our payouts as high as possible for our clients.

Can I send you my gold WITHOUT the free GoldExpress Kit?

Yes! If you would prefer to send your gold to us without waiting to receive the GoldExpress Kit, you may do so. Please click here to read the instructions.

How do I use the GoldExpress Kit once I receive it?

Your kit will arrive at the address you have provided in a normal business envelope. It will come with the following components:

  • Your custom, bar coded, trackable and insured* Canada XpressPost™ envelope as well as a tracking receipt and our mailing address pre-addressed on the package.
  • A thick (high quality) padded bag to safely hold your scrap gold items.
  • A personal letter from us giving you instructions on how to pack your gold items.
  • An informational payment form for you to fill out and return back to us with your scrap gold

All you will need to do is fill out our payment form, put your gold in the padded envelope, place everything into the Canada ExpressPost envelope and put it in the mail! Postage and insurance are pre-paid by us.

Is my GoldExpress Kit insured if it is lost in the mail?

Yes. As of March 29, 2012 in the extreme unlikelihood of your package getting lost, you will be covered on the loss of your package up to $500.00 by ParcelPro, our third party insurer. Previous kits are insured for $100.00. Our average kit has a value of approximately $500. Chances are, if you have several pieces of old jewelry the $500.00 insurance will be sufficient. But if you have a larger amount of jewelry or pieces that are of high value please contact us via email or phone to setup a higher value insurance kit. One of our friendly customer service representatives will be happy to help.

How can I be sure I will get paid for the items I send?

CashForGoldCanada.com has paid out millions of dollars to thousands of satisfied clients. Our number one priority is customer satisfaction. In this business, a good reputation is imperative, which is why we work hard to establish trusting relationships with each and every one of our valued clients. We are also an “A ” rated member of the BBB (Better Business Bureau). You can be ensured you will be paid top dollar for your scrap gold.

How much will you pay me for my precious metal?

Each payment we issue to our clients is different, depending on the contents. To get an idea on how much we pay, please visit our What We Pay page.

What types of gold jewelry do you buy?

We purchase just about any type of gold in ANY condidtion as long as it is real gold. Typical gold markings include:

  • North American: 8k, 9k, 9kt, 9ct, 10k, 10kt, 10KP, 14k, 14kt, 18k, 18kt, 19k, 21k, 22k, 22kt, 24k, 24kt
  • European: 333, 375, 417, 585, 750, 916, 999
Are there any types of gold jewelry you do not buy?

We do not purchase plated gold. If you have any items with the following markings, please do not include them with your shipment to us:

  • GE or GF – Gold Filled | RGP – Rolled Gold Plate | EPNS – Electroplated Nickel Silver | HGE – Heavy Gold Plate | GS – Gold Shell | GP – Gold Plate

These markings will be found after the hallmark such as this 10k GF. This is an example of something we would NOT purchase because the actual gold content is too small to have any market value.

Do you buy other types of precious metal (silver, platinum etc....)?

Yes! We also purchase silver, platinum, palladium and even rhodium. Please visit our What We Pay page for details or contact us with any questions you may have.

Do you buy gemstones?

Yes, we are currently purchasing diamonds over 0.25 ct. in size and payment is based on the overall size, clarity, cut and colour.  However, we are not currently purchasing other gemstones or smaller diamonds so they would not be included in your payout figure. We can still accept the piece but do not pay for the stones. We recommend, if the stone is of value to you that you remove it before sending in your items. Please note,  we cannot return stones once you have accepted our payout offer so again, please be sure to remove stones you wish to keep prior to sending.

What if I am not sure if my items are real gold or if there is no hallmark stamp on the item?

All items are tested for precious metal content when we received them. You may send in these types of items and our testing experts will be able to determine if the item is real gold and the exact karat value. A good test you can do at home is to run a magnet over the piece of jewelry. Precious metal is not magnetic so if the item is magnetic, it will not contain precious metal.
